In our last Youth Alliance fixture we entertained ShrewsburyTown at Warminster Road, going into the game we knew that a win would put us second in the league table to finish runners up to Port Vale.
We started very brightly with Fox firing over the bar after only one minute. The team was playing with control and plenty of enthusiasm. Wiggins - Thomas was played through on 23 minutes by Jubb but failed to capitalize on the chance. We went in front on 25 minutes when Jubb made a great tackle to then play the ball through for Thorpe to score. Shrewsbury then missed a good chance when a corner from the right was not dealt with and the effort went over the bar.Fox then broke down the left to put a great ball on the angle for Donnelly to head over on 40 minutes.
Half time 1-0.
The second half started with Jubb breaking into the box but shot wide from a good position.Shrewsbury then created another chance when a ball to the back post was headed back but the striker fired straight at Lockwood. Another chance for Jubb was fired wide on 24 minutes. On 25 minutes Bunn came on for Wiggins - Thomas. Then on 35 minutes a free kick from Shrewsbury was deflected with Lockwood making a fine save.A corner from Fox on the left was headed just wide by Bunn on 39 minutes then a minute later Fox cut inside and shot just wide. Fox then made the keeper work hard to his right with a good free kick and in the last minute Thorpe made ground down the left to cut back for Bunn to fire straight at the keeper.
