Despite a low par performance from the reserves they had an early chance to take the game by the scruff of the neck with two good chances.

Alan O'Hare wasn't able to finish when in a good forward position and Adam Smith squandered the chance to put the Spireites ahead from the penalty spot.

His spot kick was well saved by the Halifax 'keeper.

The visitors started to dominate and never really looked back after taking a first half lead.

Second half was the same as the first with Chesterfield failing to make much headway against a detemined West Yorkshire defence.

A late breakaway wrapt it up for the visitors with a second goal.

Reserve team coach Wayne Allison said: "We were disappointing today and didn't play well.  Halifax appeared more hungry and after we spurned two early chances to take the lead it was not a good showing."

So far this season there have been six reserve team friendly matches against Doncaster Rovers, Leeds United, Leeds Thomas Danby College, Crewe Alexandra, Blackburn Rovers and now Halifax Town.

Chesterfield line-up:  Michael Jordan, Gareth Davies, Cameran Fearon, Alan O'Hare, Michael Bearder, Jamie Jackson, Jamie Winter, Adam Smith, Ben Algar (sub Joe McLaughlin 75), Wayne Allison (sub Jordan Bowery 60), Aaron Burns (Trialist).

Final Score:  Chesterfield Reserves 0 Halifax Reserves 2
