The Chesterfield team was the usual mixture of first team squad and youth team players, along with the almost obligatory trialist.

It was a hard fought encounter of 35 minutes each way, played in difficult conditions with a high wind and driving rain, at the club's training ground at Warminster Road, Sheffield.

Not surprising then that chances on goal were few and far between for both sides, although Wayne Allison did get the ball in the net, only to be ruled offside.

Nicky Travis got his first taste of football with the Spireites on the road to full fitness following his ankle injury, which has disrupted his time with Chesterfield since joining on loan from Sheffield United last month.

After the game, reserves team manager, Wayne Allison said: "Regular reserve games are crucial for those players who need a game because it gives the manager chance to call any of them up knowing they have match practice.  This game was a useful training exercise against a lively opposition, which put themselves about."

Starting lineup:  Michael Jordan, Josh Law, Kevin Gray, Georges Santos, Alan O'Hare, Nicky Travis, Adam Smith the younger, Dan Gray, Trialist (sub Thomas Cooper-Richards 34), Jamie Jackson (sub Jordan Bowery 60), Wayne Allison.

Substitutes not used: Cameron Fearon, Josh Lowe.
