Janos joined Chesterfield from MTK, one of the leading sides in his native Budapest, in the summer of 2005. A Hungarian under-20 international, he is powerful and fearless in the air. While he normally plays at centre-half he shows tidy ground-work for a man of his size and can also play at right-back.

After forcing his way into the side Janos was unluckily sent off against Southend in 2005-6 and his chesterfield career appeared to stutter after that. 2006-7 saw first-team opportunities limited by the fine form of Aaron Downes, but Janos was recalled from a loan spell at York in April 2007 specifically to combat the physical presence in Cheltenham's side and did well enough to keep his place. Mindful of the fact that his robustness will be an asset in League Two football, Chesterfield offered Janos a contract extension in the summer of 2007.
