CHESTERFIELD REALLY APPEALED TO ME
SPIREITES WORLD subscribers were first to hear new signing GREGOR ROBERTSON talk about his new club and what he looks forward to his time at Saltergate
Well Gregor, Welcome to Saltergate, tell us a bit about yourself?
I'm 23 I started my career with Nottingham Forest moving down from Edinburgh when I was 17 after being with Hearts. I played about 45 games with Forest before moving to Rotherham, Mick Harford signed me and I played in all about 100 matches in total. Last season I followed the fortunes of Rotherham really, I was playing well up until Christmas and then I got an ankle injury.
What position do you play?
Left Back, I've played in midfield but really a left back, I like to get forward and get crosses into the box.
I understand a few clubs were after you?
Yes that's true, I had other options but Chesterfield really appealed to me. I know Alan Knill really well after Rotherham and I think that we can be successful next season.
You're a Scottish under 21 international?
Yes, I have 15 caps and it was a good experience and although may career has altered slightly over the last sixteen months and I hope to get it back on track.
You'll be in competition with Alan O'Hare next season for the left back spot.
I know yes, competition is always good and that's what brings out the best in me. And hopefully Alan too.
Chesterfield have drawn Sheffield United away in the Carling Cup
Excellent it'll be a local derby and something to look forward to.
You come back on July 1st for pre-season?
Obviously I have been resting for the last two months but I've been to the gym and getting my fitness ready and despite being out I'm quite naturally fit. And I'm looking forward to getting into training.
Welcome to Saltergate
Thank you very much.
