Chesterfield groundstaff have been busy sponging down the Saltergate pitch to ensure the Spireites game against Rochdale on Wednesday night can go ahead.

Heavy rain and a high water table meant that puddles were forming on the pitch following the overnight downpour.  These have now been cleared with the Spireites new mobile sponge machine and thanks to the hard work of head groundsman Anthony Haywood and his staff. 

An improved weather forecast for the next day or so means there is every good reason to expect no problems with the league game going ahead on Wednesday night.

Chesterfield v Rochdale at Saltergate on Wednesday 16 January 2008, kick-off 7.30pm.
