CAMPAIGN TO QUIT SMOKING
The Spireites are supporting an inspiring Derbyshire Health campaign, being promoted by Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust's Stop Smoking Service, to help smokers who want to quit smoking cigarettes for good.
'You'll smell better, look better and feel better' is the motivational message behind the 'Life is better' campaign which is rolling out across the county.
The campaign, which launched at Chesterfield's Rykneld Square, outside the town's famous Crooked Spire, invited people who have successfully stopped smoking after visiting the Stop Smoking Service to attend and celebrate their achievement.

The launch was also supported by Chesterfield FC, the town's promotion chasing Coca Cola League Two team.
The Spireites were represented by defender Aaron Downes and goalkeeper Barry Roche who congratulated the county's latest quiters.
Aaron Downes said: "We want all our supporters to lead full and healthy lives because smoking just kills."
One successful quitter, Barbara Cruse said: "I was a heavy smoker but I had my last cigarette on 13 May 2003 and I haven't touched one since, I am so glad I did it. I enjoyed attending the sessions, everyone was very friendly and supportive.
"I would encourage any smoker, no matter how long they have been smoking, to give it a try."
The integrated campaign will be rolled out across the bus network, outdoor advertising and a targeted direct mail campaign combined with events at five fixtures at the Derby County Football Club where advisors will be on hand to assist match attendees who want to stop smoking.
Having realised how difficult it is to make the first step to kick the habit, Derbyshire County PCT has set up an innovative text service for those who do not feel confident enough to pick up the phone.

Doctor David Black, Director of Public Health said: "The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to change their behaviour for the better, there is a lot of information out there about how smoking harms your body- but we want to tell people how life is better once you have stopped."
