Grimsby Town make their first visit to Saltergate since that dramatic 4-4 relegation battle in March 2004 when both sides had led and going into the final five minutes we held a 3-2 advantage. Nicky Law's Mariners then scored on 86 and 87 to get their noses in front before David Reeves completed a hat-trick with a last minute penalty, his second from the spot that day.

We, in the end, survived the drop, Glynn Hurst's last gasp winner over Luton Town in the last match of the season ultimately condemning Grimsby to relegation.

This game though sees two form sides coming together. The Spireites were the only club to win all 4 festive fixtures whilst Grimsby have won their last two and, away from home, have picked up 10 points from the last 12 on offer.

Lee Richardson looks set to draft new loan man Michael Barnes into the squad, but whether he'll start remains to be seen. Steve Fletcher's knee injury that kept him out of the dramatic win over Wrexham has responded well to treatment and he too looks set to be involved in the 16. Kevin Gray though picked up a training knock on Thursday and is doubtful for the game. Phil Picken (hand) is out and Adam Smith will also be absent, having signed on for Peter Jackson's Lincoln City for a month. Felix Bastians is also out of the picture having returned to Forest.

Former Mariner Jack Lester is, of course, suspended for the game whilst Peter Leven and Jamie Lowry enter it one yellow away from suspension.

The Mariners, who play a 3-5-2 game, look set to be unchanged. Northern Ireland International play maker Ciaran Toner (hamstring) is missing whilst Justin Whittle is fit again but likely to be on the bench alongside the experienced centre half Nick Fenton, who lost his place on Boxing Day when suspended and was only back on the bench for the New Year's Day 2-0 win at Chester City.

Like our 2-1 win over the Red Dragons, Grimsby's last outing was 'a game of two halves.' Manager Alan Buckley described the goalless first half as 'the worst game of football I've ever seen in my life.' Unlike our League of Nations side, Grimsby's squad at Chester was made up entirely of English born players.

Referee for the game is Tyne & Wear's Eddie Ilderton, the man who sent off Gareth Davies in the FA Cup loss at home to Morecambe back in 2002.

Tcham went crazy when he found out Mr Ilderton was ref
