NEW STADIUM UPDATE Aug 2007
Here is an update as at 3 August 2007, which sets out the latest position as the Spireites wait for other partners to give the green light before this major regeneration project can go ahead.
The football club has been advised that the Board meeting of site developer Wilson Bowden's retail partner did not in the end take place on 1 August as previously notified to Wilson Bowden, Chesterfield Borough Council and Chesterfield FC.
As the meeting didn't take place the agenda item concerning any development in
The fact that the meeting didn't take place at this time is of no long-term significance to Chesterfield FC's relocation to the preferred site at Whittington Moor.
The more immediate implication is that the planning procedures are further delayed as Chesterfield Borough Council has indicated it prefers just one planning application for the majority of the site, rather than on a piecemeal basis.
The next steps in the project can only be progressed when all parties are in a position to proceed forward together. Chesterfield FC has no influence or involvement with the deliberations between Wilson Bowden and their site partner.
However, the club has ensured that the new stadium plans are in place and ready to go when the planning process commences, hopefully, in the near future.
