The under 16's seeking revenge for a 5-1 home defeat against County in November defended resolutely in the opening stages as the Magpies powered forward.

Chesterfield aided by some superb defending from Emily Love weathered the storm and the midfield duo of Grace Whitaker and Emma Taylor took control  presenting wide midfielders Siobhan Wood and Catherine Davie with  excellent service. Ironically with the Blues now on top County took the lead as a result of a tap in following a corner kick.

The second half started well for the visitors who scored within minutes. Catherine Davie won the ball on the edge of the Magpies penalty area and then went past two players before cutting the ball back across the 6 yard box for Nicole Dale to score.

The Blues now began to hit top form, Zoe Herbert now playing in midfield passed the ball out to the wingers and strikers with great precision.

From a corner kick Emma Wilkinson lofted in a great ball for Zoe Herbert to jump higher than everyone including the Magpies keeper to power a great header into the back of the net.

Siobhan Wood found the net for the third time but her effort was  disallowed for offside.

It was a terrific performance from Chesterfield which drew words of praise from Centre Director Stewart Rowley " Coach Cameron Evans took a bit of stick earlier in this season but he stuck by his principles and his players who continued to believe in him and together  they are all now reaping the rewards"

Chesterfield Under 14's report Notts County 2 v Chesterfield 0

1st Third

The under 14's gave a good account of themselves against an excellent Notts County side. The Blues had a fair share of poccession but were unable to find a cutting edge up front. The first half was an even contest with both sides carving out attacks resulting in goal scoring chances. Chesterfield were playing good passing football typified by central defender Amber Wildgust who showed good composure to deliver several defence splitting passes. After all the good work Chesterfield failed to clear their lines in a goalmouth scramble and conceded a goal just seconds before the half-time whistle. 1-0

2nd Third

Though disappointed Chesterfield didn't let their heads too drop as they continued to battle with Mellisa Wilcockson working hard on the left flank and was instrumental in producing Chesterfield's best chance from her cross which found Annabel Chaplin who's shot beat the keeper and was goal bound only to be cleared off the line. County  went onto increase their lead. 2-0

3rd Third

Despite Chesterfield missing two key defenders through injury the back four of Amber Wildgust, Suzie Gelson, Grace Newbold and player of the match Lauren Jubb held fast throughout most of the game. When Notts County did get through they were denied by top class goal keeping from Paulette Spencer. Final Score 2-0

The Under 12's lost by the odd goal in a 9 goal thriller, The Blues raced to a 2 goal lead with Rosie Hays and Lauren Powell finding the back of the net, County fought back and went in front for the first time 3 minutes from the end with a break away goal which was rough justice for the visitors who had dominated the last period and most of the game. Pride of place went to new signing Kirby Hunt who opened her account for the season with a well taken goal. Emily Montgomery was again voted player of the match and capped her performance with the goal of the game curling the ball into the corner of the net from 20 yards. Both teams played some tremendous football.
