An under strength Chesterfield Team can take great pride in the performance at Cambridge. The visitors worked hard throughout the game and conceded their first goal against the run of play in the third period and final period of the game.
The work rate which was the development theme of the day was excellent but the Blues with a squad of 10 became tired in the last period which was understandable as Cambridge were able to rotate 17 players.
Chesterfield had no luck with the first two goals.Emily Montgomery had stopped a shot on the line but Cambridge striker Sam Niche was first to react hammering the ball home from short range, the second goal was a terrific 20 yard shot which struck the crossbar then spun back into the goal.
This was not a one-side game. Chesterfield at times tried to pass the ball and always looked to keep possession where possible.
