An early start and a long journey to Norwich with a depleted squad Chesterfield's under 14's were going to experience a difficult afternoon. Chesterfield started well and looked composed in defence but this was about to change as defender Emma Crump had to leave the field of play due to illness. Norwich capitalized with a well-taken goal against 10 players. Chesterfield continued throughout this half with 10 players and did well against a quality side. Just before the break Norwich increased their lead. After the break Norwich stepped up a gear while Chesterfield allowed their opposition to play by giving them far too much time on the ball and they were duly punished throughout the remainder of the game.

NottsCounty / Lincolnv Chesterfield (Triangular)
A triangular fixture against NottsCounty and Lincoln saw a Chesterfield side improve throughout the day.
1.NottsCounty 3vChesterfield 1
Chesterfield slow to start soon found themselves 2 goals down. With 15 minutes remaining Chesterfield's Amy Gavuzzi gave her team a lift as she slipped her defender and hit a wonderful shot giving the keeper no chance. NottsCounty responded and increased their lead.
2.Lincoln 0vChesterfield 0
A very even game with both teams matched throughout the field of play. April Bingham and Nicole Dale were linking up well on the right flank and got behind the Lincoln defence but were denied by good goalkeeping. Equally at the opposite end Chesterfields keeper Helen Greenhalgh was having an outstanding game.
3.NottsCounty 2vChesterfield 0
This game saw a much-improved performance from Chesterfield only conceding 2 goals and unlucky not to have 2 of their own with shots going the wrong side of the woodwork. Amy Gavuzzi was full of energy and worked hard throughout.
4.Lincoln 0vChesterfield 2
Chesterfield left the best too last as they dominated this game throughout with Mollie Brennan having an outstanding game and scoring 2 well taken goals.
Cambridge 2vChesterfield 1
Chesterfield started well and were confident on the ball.
It was down the right side that Chesterfield was causing Cambridge all the problems as Nicole Dale was dancing past her defenders. Fifteen minutes into the game Nicole got in behind the Cambridge defence and from an acute angle hit a lofted shot into the far top corner giving the keeper no chance.Cambridge replied just before the break with a well-taken goal giving the much-improved Helen Greenhalgh no chance between the sticks.
The second period saw neither side giving an inch. Cambridge were denied time and time again by the impressive young Eleanor Clarke in defence whose tackles were timed to perfection and she shown maturity in her distribution of the ball. In central mid-field Jasmin Kerin and Emma Wilkinson were both having good games working hard and bossing the middle of the park.
Chesterfield who were playing the better football were dealt a cruel blow in the final period from an in swinging Cambridge corner which was caught by the keeper only to skid out of her hands and fall the wrong side of the goal line. An excellent team performance with a result they didn't deserve.
