Against good opposition Chesterfield were competitive in every game and in difficult conditions passed the ball well.
Mellissa Johnson scored a great goal in the final game steering the ball into the net from the narrowest of angles folowing a breathtaking fourty yard surge down the left wing byCatherine Davie.
Trialist Emma Wilkinson showed some neat touches and was supported by good performances in particularly from the midfield quartet of Emily Simpkins, Catherine Davie, Siobhan Wood, and Gemma Plumb. Grace Whiitaker again did well in a midfield holding role.The defence played their part competing well againsta driving wind.

1ST Game (NottsCounty 2vChesterfield 1)
Despite conceding the first game Chesterfield played really well and were competitive throughout. NottsCounty's goals came from Chesterfield errors and a dubious refereeing decision. Chesterfield piled on the pressure towards the close of play and were rewarded when outstanding defender Kirsty Richards hit a 15yd-lofted shot into the far top corner.
2nd Game (Lincoln 2vChesterfield 0)
Again despite the score line Chesterfield were competitive and created several chances. Amber Wildgust and Nicole Dale in mid-field played quality balls into the Chesterfield strikers but good goalkeeping was to deny them.
3rd Game (NottsCounty 1vChesterfield 2)
Fabulous performance as Chesterfield dominated the game with superb defending from Kirsty Richards, Emma Crump and the improving Jasmin Kerin. In the middle of the park Nicole Dale was winning possession and distributing the ball well. Chesterfield opened the scoring from captain Amy Gavuzzi. The second goal came from a Kirsty Richards corner, which Suzie Gelson hit, low and hard into the bottom of the net. Chesterfield took the foot of the pedal, which allowed NottsCounty a consolation goal.
4th Game (Lincoln 0vChesterfield 1)
Chesterfield were now on a roll, playing with confidence in all parts of the field. Rebecca Baraona had her best match improving in defence with every game. Chesterfield were punishing Lincoln down the right flank as April Bingham's pace created havoc in the Lincoln defence. Despite all the pressure Chesterfield had to wait until the final 5 minutes for their reward this being a terrific solo goal from April Bingham.
5th Game (NottsCounty 2vChesterfield 0)
NottsCounty assisted by the strong wind put Chesterfield under some pressure, Once Chesterfield had possession they found it hard to drive the ball into the oncoming wind. The inevitable had to happen as NottsCounty got 2 goals in the last third of the game.
6th Game (Lincoln 0vChesterfield 0)
Both teams in deadlock with Chesterfield had most of the possession but after a hard day legs became to tire and they were unable to apply a finish.
Summary.
An excellent display from Chesterfield's under 14's, who have proved that they can be competitive with the best of them. Player of the matches went to:

Chesterfield can be proud of their performance in this triangular tournament. In both games against NottsCounty luck was not on their side with the woodwork being hit twice in each game. The goalkeeper making two significant saves to deny Phillippa Cassidy and Chesterfield victory.
In the first game against Lincoln 2 Chesterfield were well in control without applying the finishing touch. Blues keeper Kate having very little to do. The second game continued where the last game ended with Chesterfield in control. Jodie Peacock opened the scoring and the ever impressive, Alice Clarke pictured right scoring twice.
Chesterfield and Lincoln 1 were arguably the two strongest teams on view. Both teams tried to play possession football but the driving wind continued to make playing quality football difficult. Both teams hit the woodwork in the first match, which ended even. The final match of the day ended in a 2:1 victory to Lincoln with Eleanor Clarke scoring the consolation for the plucky Spire'ites. Chesterfield again had to battle against a very strong wind and a very well organised Lincoln 1.
