Chesterfield earned their 4:0 victory by hard work and having a defence that was well organised against a determined MK Dons.  The visitors hit form early playing neat attractive football and took a deserved lead when Alice Clarke slipped the ball into the path of Phillippa Cassidy who shrugged off the challenge of two defenders before slotting the ball inside the post.

Further success came after a period of sustained pressure when Alice Clark won the race with the keeper to finish from short range.

Jodie Peacock then scored from the penalty spot but the referee ordered the kick to be retaken again, as MK Dons had made a substitution. Unfortunately, the retaken penalty kissed the wrong side of the right post with the keeper well beaten.

Captain for the day Eleanor Clarke led by example and her fine performance was underlined by an unstoppable shot from over 20 yards. It was no surprise for her to later receive player of the match.

After being substituted for treatment the dynamic midfielder Cassidy returned to play with 3 minutes remaining and made an immediate impact by scoring the forth goal again taking her time to beat the MK Dons keeper.

Team Coach Selwyn Marston was delighted with the performance "Every player stuck to their task and the result came from hard work, which typifies the character of this team. The players defended as a team which resulted in very few opportunities for the home side"
