 A slick short range finish from Melissa Johnson 20 minutes from the end was enough to seal a victory for the Spireites in Milton Keynes.

 On a rock hard awkward surface Chesterfield struggled to find their form in the early stages and a lack of concentration in the defense lead to the Dons gaining the advantage with a goal after 15 minutes.

Carla Millan was instrumental in a quick equalizer the left back made a thrilling forty yard run down the flank then delivered a great cross into the box for Catherine Davie who side footed the ball into the net.

In the 25^th minute Chesterfield took the lead when midfielder Grace Whitaker pounced on a clearance from a corner and from 25 yards skillfully lofted the ball over the bemused M.K.Dons keeper.

 For the remainder of the half the visitors piled on the pressure creating several chances which resulted in some great saves from the home keeper.

With seconds of the first period remaining Laura Allcock made a stupendous save from a free kick diving full length to her left to divert the ball away from the goal unfortunately the home striker was first to the ball slotting home the equalizer from an acute angle.

Chesterfield dominated the second half with the centre midfield trio of Emily Simpkins, Grace Whittaker, and Jodie crofts in total control.  Natalie Crofts throw ins from the right and Simpkins dashing runs from midfield increased the pressure onto the defense which eventually yielded when striker Melissa Johnson clipped the ball in the back of the net for the blues to re-gain a deserved lead.

In the last twenty minutes MK came back into the game testing our second half keeper Amy Page who pulled off some good saves. There was still the occasional break which resulted to a few near misses notably from Lisa Jones who headed just pass the wrong side of the post.

 A good performance was marred by the news that Jodie Crofts had broken her wrist after falling awkwardly after a challenge mid-way in the second half. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
