The players are back in training and Lee Richardson updated SPIREITES WORLD TV on his latest efforts to supplement the Spireites squad, especialy a new goalkeeper.
With only youngster Dan Whatsize as a goalkeeper following the departure of Barry Roche to Morecombe last month. The goalkeeping spot appears wide open with the Spireites boss looking at various options available to him, and he appears to be favouring the loan market to resolve the clubs number one spot.
Lee told Spireites World "Our goalkeeping options are varied. It's not so much of a concern in terms of bringing in a goalkeeper it's more a question if bringing in the right goalkeeper. There are various factors to consider and I am waiting for replies from a couple of managers about the possibility having a loan goalkeeper. There are a number of goalkeepers available who have been released, but it may be more beneficial for us to have an outstanding prospect from a Premiership or Championship club.
Lee also see's his summer recruits Robert Page, Kevin Austin, and Paul Harsley helping any younger keeper and added
"We have a lot more experience in defence now which could help to develop a younger keeper. Plus there are a number of younger keepers who already have some experience who may also be available. So we have to balance everything up and hopefully get the right one in place"
Lee confirmed that the aim is to bring in a new goalkeeper before the first pre-season game later this month. The Spireites boss is still in the market for other players and revealed the transfer budget is not empty yet.
"There is still money available and we still need a quality wide player and strikers with only two on the books in Jamie Ward and Jack Lester we simply need more.
"We were blessed last season in having a striker in the Steve Fletcher mould. That type of experienced striker is getting very rare so we probably will have to look at younger strikers if we want that option.
