LEE: STILL HANGING IN THERE
In an exclusive Spireites World TV preview manager Lee Richardson gave his latest thoughts ahead of this weekend's game at home to Darlington. Read the highlights right here
We are still hanging in there and still have some hope. But that hope is very much dependent on us beating Darlington and then to see how long that hope lasts for. We have always been in the position of having to win the vast majority of our last six games and thats still the case.
We are all disappointed that we are not in with a shout of automatic promotion spot because that was our aim at the start of the season. There are various reasons why we are not in that position and we will have to take stock of the various reasons behind that starting with myself. Some people will say it's all about me and the decisions I have made over the season, which is fair enough. But there are various other factors and from my point of view I think it's been a decent season and I hope we can still finish the season on a high.
Last Saturday's result at Morecombe was a major disappointment and another game in which we didn't finish a team off after taking the lead. We were wasteful in front of goal and then appeared to take our foot off the gas after talking at half-time about keeping the pressure and trying to go further ahead. We appeared to go into a protective mode all to easily and lacked a desire to go forward and their confidence grew. Although earlier in the season a 1-1 draw at Morecombe would not have been a bad result we were disappointed because the result had more riding on it so late in the season. So we have to focus on the future and the future starts with us playing
Darlington are still in pole position and I guess they won't be relishing coming to us. It's a massive game for both clubs. In the end it may all boil down to who gets a bit of luck. I watched Rochdale against Barnet on Tuesday night and Rochdale certainly rode there luck and could have been four down to Barnet before they scored and ran out clear winners.
Jack Lester has come through a week's training now and he's had no ill effects and if he feels comfortable he will be back in contention for Saturday's game. We won't risk him in any shape or form but he may be involved on Saturday and if not he should definitely back to face Macclesfield.
