LEE: A LONG FORTY EIGHT HOURS
Lee Richardson on SPIREITES WORLD TV looked back on a hectic couple of days finalising the arrival of three new players, and ahead to the club's first trip to Victoria Road, Dagenham. Read the highlights here
A busy Thursday for transfer activity
It's been a very long forty eight hours. We have been after two of the players for a while and it's only just come to fruition in the last forty eight hours. It did look at one point like we might miss out altogether and come away with nothing. That would have been a real disappointment considering the amount of time and effort we had put in
But we finally have managed to bring in three players subject to all the paperwork going through. Colin Hawkins is a thirty year old central defender from
It's been well publicised for sometime that we have looking to add some experience to our defence. It's been a long drawn out process and hopefully Colin will come in a have the impact we are hoping for. Graeme Owens is a wide player who can play on either side. He could be one that gets bums off seats and hopefully again he will make the kind of impact we want. With the injury to Jack Lester I just felt there was a chance to bring in Bruce Dyer who will add some experience if needed. He's not played much football recently so it's a bit like the Kevin Cooper situation. They both want to be involved and will be competing for places and all three join the squad for the trip to Dagenham and Redbridge.
On Saturdays game
Every game in this division is a tricky game. We dominated Dagenham here and only got a point so there will be no compliancy from us. They've had a good year and they are a capable and threatening side. They have changed things around a bit and John Still's changed their style of play to one he thinks will get them more results. It's also our first stop-over game of the season thanks mainly to the geography of the clubs in league Two. So we will be travelling down to Dagenham tomorrow (Friday) and it will be a nice change for us.
Six games to go
Every game now is vital and has been since mid February. We are still inconsistent and that's why we are in a position where we have to win the majority, if not all of, our games to ensure we are in the play-offs. I am hoping with seven loan signings we have a good sized squad and there is healthy competition. We now have good players who don't get on the bench and I keep telling the players that everyone's got a role to play. I keep stressing to them that they have to show fight every day of their lives to earn a living from football and be a bit like warriers. Perhaps it shows with the appearance figures not only who have played the most games but also the ones who day in and day out step up to the plate in training and not just in the odd ninety minutes every other Saturday.
