LEE: ANOTHER FRUSTRATING EVENING
Lee Richardson spoke on Spireites World TV shortly after seeing the fight back from 2-0 down to nearly snatch a point against Peterborough United. Read the highlights right here.
It's again another frustrating evening for us all. But I am pleased with the endeavour and spirit the players showed. To concede on the stroke of half-time to another bad error was a sickner. Then we conceded five minutes into the second half from a quality goal. Mickail-Smith was a menace all night and he put in a great cross for Boyd to finish well.
The next five or so minutes were difficult. The crowd became disheartened and were frustrated it would have been all to easy for the players to go under. So I am delighted by how they came through that and barring a save by their £400,000 goalkeeper we would have got a deserved point.
We got back into it after Peter Leven's shot was touched home by Jack Lester and Jack won us the penalty a few minutes later. I thought the referee was excellent except for the last incident with Tom Williams who was ambling off the pitch after being sent off and we had to wait a long-time to take the kick. Though it's hard to judge if that affected the taker or not, but for me he had to either frog march him off or allow us to take the penalty. So again it's a game we should have got something from.
We have to take heart from that performance and if the crowd react how they did and for the players to come through, that is heartening for me. We have 3,500 or so home fans tonight and I can't stop people booing and calling the players this and me that. They all have their opinions and all know better than me and have a massive experience in football and know what it's all about. But that's their prerogative and if they feel that's supportive that's up to them, when in fact after our poor run of form we actually need more positive support.
There is a real problem in football at the moment that thanks largely to the media, phone-ins, and the like, the expertise of the supporters nowadays appears to be unrivalled and they know it all, and we as managers and coaches clearly have some catching up to do and some learning.
