LEE: WE HAVE TO IMPROVE
The first half was not good enough. We were lifeless and went into our shells. We turned it round in the second half and looked the more likely to go on and win the game.
But as we have seen on many occasions we contrive to give the game away. The lad had already scored two goals with his left foot and yet we don't realise that what he was going to try and do again. That knocked the stuffing out of us and we concede yet another awful goal shortly afterwards. So after dominating the second half we are staring at yet another home defeat and it's another topsy turvy game which we seem to get here.
We had to go for it in the second half words were said because I was far from happy at half time. We got the right reaction though and got the goals back and yet contrive to throw it away again. We have a lot of young players in the team who went into there shells in the first half but they came out and were counted in the second half. With twenty games to go we are still in a good position but anymore performances like that and we won't be doing anything this season.
What is disappointing was that the players got nothing for there second half efforts. It's a pity they didn't start with the same commitment in the first half. The players have to realise at times its there job to lift the crowd especially when its quiet they have to trigger the crowd by enthusiasm and endeavour which will get the crowd going like they did in the second half.
Overall there are too many areas in which we were to young and to naïve. In fairness to Brendan and Michael it was a difficult game to make your home debuts in the players didn't really help each other. I will have a look at the squad and see if we can bring in the experience I feel we require. But we have to pick ourselves up and learn the lessons of games like tonights. We simply have to improve.
