LEE: HAVE TO IMPROVE OUR HOME FORM
We shaded the game overall; we were the better side, especially the first half. We were the most threatening and had several chances that we didn't quite capitalise on. We spoke at half time about being caught out and, although the possession was shared in the second half, I thought we were the most likely to go on and score. We haven't done, but pleasingly, we kept a clean sheet. Overall, we're pleased with a point.
A problem for us this season has been our dominance in some games, in that we haven't had to sit back. Even today, we only felt that they were a threat on the counter attack. Not so much the counter attack, but the "counter lump up the pitch" has caused us problems this season through not dealing with the simple ball. It's a concentration issue, but we mastered that side of our game today and we're disappointed we didn't get the goal that would have won all three points.
Jamie Ward was a threat throughout the game and he and Jack combined in the first half to cause them problems. In the second half the partnership came a little bit unstuck. I was tempted just to throw The Chief on to give them something else to think about, but we were trying to pass it through and round them and we thought that Ward and Rooney might have the pace and movement to unsettle them. A point away from home is not bad, and we now have to look to our home form to improve.
The support was superb again, and we wanted to show our appreciation at the end - we're thankful for that.
Tranmere Rovers at home in the Cup - a nice, easy game for us! We're the underdogs and we remember from last year what underdogs can achieve on the day.
