Spireites manager Lee Richardson said "The disappointment really is the goals we conceded.  We should have defended a lot better for the first and third goals. I have had a word with the players concerned and we need to make sure it doesn't happen again. Tiger Woods would have been pleased with chip for the second goal and I think the lad concerned will admit it was a cross and it was a bit of a fluke."

He was however pleased with some aspects and added "On the flip side I was pleased with the second-half fight back/  We created a lot chances and took the game to them for large parts of the game. With better finishing we could have had four or five goals ourselves. I lost count of the chances Adam Rooney had, Josh Law hit the bar and also had one cleared off the line. I was pleased with all the youngsters over-all, we were knocked out by poor defending from more experienced players that gifted them two goals and cost us the game"

The Spireites boss also went on to question the current rules for team selection and also the timing this season of the Johnstones Paint Trophy he said "My opinion of this competition is that it's farcical that 'men in suits' effectively pick the team. After-all, Premiership teams are allowed to pick weakened teams with massive squads if they are in the Champions League. We have a tiny squad and forced to play a certain number of players based on appearances in a game we want to win. Whatever the outcome of this game this is how I eel about this competition."

It's been proven to be its a nonsense last season we won away at Oldham and were fined for fielding an under strength team. I cannot work the logic out.  I understand they want clubs to respect the competition and we do respect the competition and want to win it because that is of financial benefit to the club.   But it's difficult to tell my squad players that they are valuable members of the squad but at the same time tell them they can't play in this game because the rules dictate they can't play because they haven't played enough games."

They have also brought the competition forward far to early this season and I think its a nonsense.  We have now picked up two more injuries to players who could have been rested, Phil Picken and Jamie Winter

It's a big ask to ask players to player three games in six days.  As important as this competition is, and as much as we want to do wwll in it, the biggest competition we are in is the league competition and that takes precedence and will do for most managers I believe."
