Your thoughts on the game, Lee?

I'm really pleased with the game because it should shatter any illusions that the season's going to be a cakewalk, that we just have to turn up and teams will roll over. The first half was okay, in terms of possession, and was passable for the first 25 minutes until the sloppiness that presented them with their only real attempt on goal in the first half. For 25 minutes of the second half it looked like York City were among the favourites to have a successful season in League Two. They deserved the second goal and the win, and could have had more, but for Barry Roche. All in all, I'm pleased we've had a kick up the backside!

A Good goal from Jack?

We know we've got players who can score, and can create chances; this is a bonus from last season, where we looked blunt, at times. In general, if we're going to defend as shoddily as we did in the second half, and lack the tenacity and endeavour that we'll need in League Two, we won't find it as easy as some think we might.

What did you learn today about your starting line-up for Chester?

It gives us more food for thought. We'll assess the video and make sure that we learn from today's mistakes. We'll look at the performances of individuals in certain positions and see if it has worked, and if there are alternatives we can put in place for the visit to Chester.

Derek Niven was in an unfamiliar midfield position?

We've looked at Derek in that position for a couple of games. I think it is somewhere that he can play. He functions as a defensive-type wide player, which sounds like a contradiction in terms, but because of his energy he can pressure defenders high up the pitch and get into the box from those positions without our losing out defensively. I don't mean he's going to play there all season but he may find himself out there, and all midfield players need to be able to play wide midfield and inside.

Don't miss a thing!
