Lee - a 1-0 victory over Forest - you must be pleased?

We're pleased because everybody got a workout and with two completely different sides we kept a clean sheet and won the game.

Wayne Allison got the first goal of the pre-season?

He took it very well. Morgan, the centre-half, didn't read the through ball and he got in behind him and finished it with aplomb. We probably could have scored two or three more in fairness. The overall performance was the pleasing thing, but the fact that The Chief, who is now as much on the coaching side as the playing side, still showed that he can do the job when called upon.

Jamie Winter didn't feature?

What with the triallists we'd already organised and the number of players to give forty-five minutes I didn't think it was viable to throw Jamie in to the mix, having only come down last night to sign. He'll take part at some stage on Tuesday.

And the five triallists?

A couple of French boys - Gilberto Perreio and Sebastian Alnomi, who showed up quite well; Liam Green, a player from Doncaster; Anthony McParland, who was with Barnsley, and Nick Wright, of Birmingham. They all acquitted themselves quite well but at the moment there'll be no further interest from myself. I don't think I'm in a position to offer any of those players a contract at this time. They've been with us a period of time and I've had a chance to assess them, and we wish them well.

What sort of a side will we see against Wednesday?

I've got to go through one or two things in my own mind, but I'd like to give everyone a game. Pre-season is a funny time because you can plan so much, but there are all sorts of things that you need to be able to react to, like injuries and new signings. We've got four games coming up in seven days, so we have to make sure everyone has enough pitch time and rotate things a little bit.

But a good start against Forest?

Yes, and I'm pleased for Steve, to get his game. I'm delighted for him.

Don't miss a thing!
