No match action for the Spireites this weekend has turned out to be well timed.

A dose of coughs and sneezes is working its way through the squad with a number of players laid low at the moment.

Wayne Allison has been 'excused boots' for a couple of days due to a heavy cold.  Ian Evatt and Mark Hudson have also been suffering and would, along with The Chief, most likely have missed any game this weekend.

The chap with the runniest of noses has been assistant manager Lee Richardson who is accused by some of starting the mini epidemic in the first place. Club physio Jamie Hewitt recalls a television advertisement from the past and has passed it on as good advice, "coughs and sneezes spread diseases."

Despite the problems it is expected that the lads should have shaken off their ailments in time for the trip to Oldham Atheltic on Tuesday night.  The ten-day break may also have worked in midfielder Derek Niven's favour, currently out with an ankle injury. It is possible that he could have recovered sufficiently to be in contention for Tuesday's game at Boundary Park.
