Local youngsters have the unique chance to represent their school at one of football's showpiece occasions, as well as on their local League club's home ground at Saltergate.

This chance to realise a footballing dream is thanks to The Football League BT Community Cup, launched for the first time this year.

The finalists could even by playing at the new Wembley Stadium.

The national six-a-side football competition, for children under-11, kicks-off this Tuesday 22 November at Middlecroft Leisure Centre. 

SaltergateAll the teams competing from local schools have a chance to play in the local final, which will be staged at Saltergate before the Blackpool game on Saturday 26 November.
 
Local schools taking part are St Mary's Primary, Grassmoor Primary, Mary Swanwick, Dronfield Junior, Clay cross Junior, Calow Primary, Newbold C of E, Wigley, Brockwell Junior, Christ Church C of E and Duckmanton.
 
The winner of the Saltergate final will then go on to represent Chesterfield FC in the regional finals being organised divisionally in line with each club's status in The Football League. 

Chesterfield will be competing against Barnsley, Blackpool, Bradford City, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rover, Scunthorpe United, Hartlepool United, Huddersfield United, Tranmere Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Port Vale.

The winner of the regional competition will then go on to a grand national final prior to one of football's prestgious showpiece occasions.  For example, this could be one of the Football League's play-off finals, or another important occasion, which may even be staged at the new Wembley Stadium, if its ready in time.  

A final decision on the whereabouts of the finals has still to be made, but wherever it is it will be a day to remember for all the participants.

Meanwhile, The Football League BT Girls Cup for under 13's will kick off early next year for all the secondary schools in the Chesterfield area, again with a chance to play ultimately prior to April's LDV Vans Trophy Final. 

This is expected to be played at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Letters of invitation will soon be sent out to local schools which can register their interest by contacting Chesterfield FC's Football in the Community Scheme, on 01246 550930.

The new competition will give more than 20,000 children across the country the opportunity to emulate their football heroes, and youngsters in the Chesterfield area are also involved thanks to the Spireites.
