Centre Of Excellance

The Centre of Excellence is now winding down for the season with our last games due to be played on Sunday 29th April.
At this time of the year each player receives an assessment from their coach regarding progress and development. This procedure takes place twice a year and is the ideal opportunity to provide feedback to both the player and their parents.
Fortunately this year we have not had to release to many players - it is always difficult to tell a young player that they are not in our opinion at this stage not going to make a footballer. However, the quality has certainly improved and this is a credit to the coaches and scouts and the players themselves.
Recently we have also been busy holding trials and interviews for the Football and Education programme we are starting in conjunction with Chesterfield College. We have offered over 20 places to 16 and 17 year olds who have all been at the Centre of Excellence or Academy Clubs, but have not been offered Scholarships.
Hopefully, this programme will give the lads who have not yet fulfilled their potential or have not physically developed the opportunity of a second chance to progress.
All the lads will be registered as Chesterfield F.C. players and be available for the Youth Team.
