Children from a Chesterfield primary school are in with a chance of playing at the  Millennium Stadium in Cardiff after winning the area finals of a national football competition. 

 

The team of boys and girls from Brampton Primary School, representing Chesterfield FC, are now through to the north regional finals of the Kelloggs Frosties sponsored Football in the Community Schools' U11 6-a-side football competition.

They were undefeated against teams from the Spireites local rivals and even beat Sheffield United in the area finals held last week at the Aurora Sports Ground in Rotherham.

If the youngsters get through the next round they are in for a very special day in Cardiff.  The Grand Finals are being held before the LDV Vans Trophy Final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Sunday 10 April 2005.

 

Around 3,000 primary schools across the UK initially entered the competition.  To make it into the area finals, Brampton Primary were the local winners from sixteen local schools in the Chesterfield area.

 

 

Chesterfield's Football in the Community Officer, Andy Morris said: "Well done to the youngsters of Brampton Primary School for their success already in this gr-r-reat competition.  We wish them the best of luck in the next round."

 

The North Regional Finals take place next Tuesday 15 March 2005 at Scunthorpe United's Glanford Park ground, starting 11.30am.
