THE CLUB'S THE HUB
The Club's The Hub Steering group met at Saltergate to hear from two speakers, Graham Lamin is the Operations Planning Office of 'C' Division of Derbyshire Constabulary, he's responsible for the Matchday policing of the majority of Saltergate matches and Neil Kelly of Warrington Borough Council, the Rugby League Development Officer.
Graham told us of the role the Club and its supporters can play in crime reduction but it was Neil who demonstrated what can be done by a sports Club in the Community. He's involved in using Warrington Wolves as a focal point in the Town and we heard about the scheme, the winners of the Rugby League Community Club award for the last four years and this year they're nominees in the Sports Industry Awards Community section.
Neil told the audience of involvement in education of children and adults, crime reduction, drug awareness programmes, festivals, coaching, the list just goes on and on and he was firmly of the belief that the Club only received planning permission for its new ground, recently opened, because of its proposed use as a Community facility.
