A BUSY WEEK
Last week was busy but very enjoyable. We started the week continuing our after- school programme around Chesterfield. These sessions have been sponsored by SRB5 and we would like to thank them for all their help and support.
On Monday we had the 'Read on Write Away' bus at the ground, eight children from Rother Junior School came up and had a great time working on the computers, I then took them on a tour of the ground and we had a question and answer session. Whilst the children were at the ground we had a visit from Comedy Dave and Chaffers from BBC Radio 1 who had come to collect a Chesterfield shirt which the Club had donated to raise funds for Comic Relief.
The boys and girls really enjoyed their day and I look forward to reading their reports on what happened. I would just like to say a big thank you to Hasland Junior School for getting Chesterfield through to the last eight in the country in the U-11 Railtrack six a side Play Safe Trophy. I think it is the best Chesterfield has ever done, if not it is the best since I started doing this job. Of the three games played they drew one and lost the other two, with Tranmere winning their way to Cardiff to play against whoever the winners will be in the south.
Also well done to Danny Keenan who did well in the Smoby Table Football competition at Sheffield Wednesday. Danny lost only one of his games and that was to the Northern Champion from Notts County.
Don't forget you can come to the Saturday Morning Club at Holmebrook Valley Park off Water Meadow Lane. Whatever the weather we are there so come and join us.
