The Spireites are poised to make a signing at the start of the January transfer window.

A pacy winger from a Premiership club is set to join Chesterfield on loan until the end of the season and could be available for this Saturday's home game against Grimsby Town.

Agreement has already been reached with both the player and the club concerned but no details are being released at this stage as the paperwork cannot be finalised with the FA or The Football League until they re-open for business after their New Year break.

Talks are also taking place with striker Adam Rooney and his parent club Stoke City with a view to extending his current loan spell if possible.

Meanwhile, loanee Felix Bastians is set to return to Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of his three month loan spell with the Spireites, which ends this week.

He could be making his last appearance in a blue shirt in the New Year's Day home fixture against Wrexham.
