Relegation to League Two does not seem to have deterred Chesterfield fans from continuing to show their commitment to the club as season ticket sales have actually exceeded last season.

Although a small number of fans have decided against renewing their season ticket, this is more than compensated for by the number of new season tickets that have been sold, some for the very first time.

Alan Walters Chesterfield finance director Alan Walters said: "Despite relegation, season tickets sales have exceeded the amount taken last year and we thank everyone for showing their continued confidence in the Spireites."

"There is a new optimistic mood around the place, with thoughts of promotion back to League One and the club's exciting plans for the new stadium at Whittington Moor."

Existing season ticket holders had until 16 June to renew and ensure retention of their existing seat, but now that deadline has passed, all available seats are up for grabs.

New season ticket holders can now come into the club to review the position of their new seats and change them if they wish.

Alan Walters added: "Although the chance to obtain season tickets at discount prices has now ended they still remain on sale at normal prices."
