After a two week break from football all the Centre of Excellence teams played Mansfield on 25th February. We know how much rivalry and history there is between the 2 local teams so all the teams would be determined to do well in this fixture.

The Chesterfield teams did not let the football club down at all, the players performed well at every age group. The under 13s were outstanding against there local rivals, the football they tried to play and the goals they scored were well worked. Obviously players should be focused for every game they play not just when they play Mansfield.

If the Centre of Excellence players show the same commitment, passion, playing ability and willingness to learn, it will put them on the right route to earning an apprenticeship at Chesterfield Football Club. The Centre of Excellence squads play there next fixtures against Rotherham United at Chesterfield Cylinders on 18th March.

I would also like to congratulate another young player on gaining an apprenticeship at Chesterfield Football.

Hopefully if he listens, develops and works hard he can gain himself a pro contract at the end of his 2 year apprenticeship.

If anyone would like to sponsor the Centre of Excellence please contact me, Dave Bentley, Jason Elliot, Chris Breeze or Mick Beddingham at Chesterfield Football Club.
