The Centre of Excellence squads started back in training on the 3rd of January 2007. The squads looked fairly sharp in training to say they had a break of just over three weeks.

During the Christmas break the players are responsible for their own fitness; the players had to maintain their fitness levels because all the squads had Rotherham teams to play on Sunday 7th January. The under 16's performed really well after starting the game slowly, Chesterfield came out on top in the end and scored some cracking goals.

The pleasing thing was the performances of five of the under 15 players who were moved up to the under the under16 squad did not look out of place at all.

We have signed nine new under 9 players just before Christmas. All of the players were signed from our feeder clubs Chesterfield Junior Blues, Brampton Rovers, and Dronfield AFC.

It's nice to see Chesterfield boys becoming involved with their own local team and with the help of our feeder clubs we should be able to keep hold of some of our better local talent.

I would like to welcome all the new players and their parents to the Club and hope they enjoy their time with us.

I would also like to welcome Dale Spragg who is the new Chesterfield Centre of Excellent under 9 Coach.

If anyone would like to sponsor Chesterfield centre of excellence please contact me, Dave Bentley, Jason Elliot, Chris Breeze or Mick Beddingham at the Football Club.
