BARRYS BLOG WEEK 2
We all felt that we deserved a lot more out of the Grimbsy game than what we got. We played some fantastic football at times but unfortunately things didn't go our way. Yes there was foul in the run up to the first goal and the second goal was never a penalty but excuses won't change anything so we just have to get on with it.
We were given a few days off after the game as the Christmas period is very tiring-even for a goalkeeper. Five games in 14 days takes its toll on the legs and the minds! Although it wasn't to be a complete break as Shinner had prepared a fitness plan of the work we had to do over the few days. Everyone was given heart monitors too to record what they had done so there could be no slacking off!
On our return to the training ground we were greeted by gale force winds and torrential downpours, which believe me, made training extremely difficult. We managed to get quite a bit done with the gaffer and coaching staff before we had to admit defeat to the elements.
There was a Young vs. Old match on Friday but I've no idea what the result was as the Keepers weren't involved. So basically I couldn't care less!
We have had two new additions to the squad in Michael Barnes and fellow Irishman Brendan Maloney. I've no doubt that they will both be valuable acquisitions to our squad, even though Barnesy wore the most horrific belt to training I've ever seen. Something Fletch quickly picked up on and pointed out to the rest of us! Barnesy took it in good spirits as I hope he will when he reads this!
